"Got one question though. If I exchange the viewing screen
for one of those Beattie type screens, will it make an
effective improvement in the light level in the SLR
viewfinder, and will it effect the light meter in any
way?"

When I bought my used R4 many years ago Jim Kuehl told me that Leitz had
improved the stock split-image/microprism screen with a brighter one. I
bought one from him and, sure enough, the difference was noticeable.

The original was brighter than the Leicaflex SL, the replacement noticeably
brighter than the original. For reference the SL is brighter than an old
Nikon F which is quite a bit btighter than a Visoflex II.

Recent exchanges on the subject of the F prompt me to say that this is a
superb piece of extremely rugged equipment, lovely to hold and use, and much
more rugged feeling than any Leitz reflex camera I have handled/owned.

All of this is, of course, purely subjective data from an amateur. I am not
familiar with the Beattie and would like to learn more. Can it be fitted to
a Visoflex?
