Not surprising at all. Longer lenses are easier to design in many ways than
fast wide angles. And I know from other reports the EOS 300 2.8 is actually
a tad better than the 280 f/2.8 Apo telyt. And a hair behind the Zeiss 300
2.8 Tele Apo Tessar (which lists at $25,000 and sells for around $15,000).
