I printed only on Agfa Indiatone Brilliant paper until they stopped making it and my supplies ran out. I would never think of myself in the same paragraph as W. Eugene Smith, but I share his lament. After I finished grieving the loss of Indiatone, I switched to Polycontrast G and used only that until I parted with my wet darkroom. It was good enough for me. Other sports I can take or leave, but I pay attention to basketball. The Harlem Globetrotters (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harlem_Globetrotters ) had a big star named Meadowlark Lemon. (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meadowlark_Lemon ) He was one of the very best basketball players of all time. He was so good that when he was getting ready to throw a ball through the hoop, he often did tricks like bouncing it between his legs, or shooting from behind his back, or bouncing it off his head, or spinning it on the end of his finger. He didn't just make great hoop shots. He made great hoop shots after doing extra things with the ball, just for fun. These pictures that Alan has posted remind me of Meadowlark Lemon. Alan is so good at photography that he can do things that would confound the rest of us, and still get fabulous pictures. I don't think it would be good for a camera for the photographer to dribble it between his legs before shooting a picture behind his own back, but if it could work, I'm sure Alan Magayne-Roshak could do it. If you haven't looked at every one of these pictures, you should. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Alan+Magayne-Roshak/Awards/ From reid at mejac.carlsbad.ca.us Wed Mar 15 22:48:22 2023 From: reid at mejac.carlsbad.ca.us (Brian Reid) Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2023 15:48:22 -0700 Subject: [Leica] yearbook status Message-ID: <1f57bb8b671fb166dd25a7b0deda9189@mejac.carlsbad.ca.us> I was derailed by a lawsuit against me that came to trial a couple of weeks ago (It all came out OK) and then by family illness. It darkened our life for 3 years. It was settled at the end of February. It is the nature of such things that I ought not say much about it, but I can say that I am extremely glad that I was not found liable because I don't have anywhere close to that much money and would have had to sell my house. And everything in it. Persons in my household other than myself have been sick. I've made numerous pharmacy trips but so far have avoided actual disease. We have frequent visits from young grandchildren, all of whom are extreme disease vectors. On 2023-03-15 17:34, Douglas Barry wrote: > Don't even think about for a month, maybe more, Brian.
