As we do every year, we invited about 15 of our local friends for a Thanksgiving dinner. They find the traditional dishes very exotic, and of course the turkey is the main attraction, along with the various side dishes and pecan pie (I dislike pumpkin, so the pumpkins are just for decoration, not human consumption)?and of course copious amounts of wine. It all started a week earlier, when my wife set up the large table in our covered front terrace and the work continued during the week with shopping, preparation of what could be made in advance, etc. We had the dinner on Thursday night, not the most convenient day given that it is just a normal working day, as is the following day. But my wife wants it to be as close to a US Thanksgiving as possible, so it is done on the day. Besides Thanksgiving, I also tested another film in the Adox HR developer that I am considering making my standard developer for all films. This week it was Fuji Acros, in my Leica M2, using my lovely colleague Eri and the new crop of trainees as my test subjects. I continue to find that people really relate to these B&W portraits of them shot using a camera and lens that were both produced by the craftsmen (and women) of Wetzlar before any of them were born. Finally, there is also an evening walk in Alicante to look at the lights of the season.
