This sign at the entrance to the Hurricane Ridge road had us scratching
our heads.

It wasn't until we asked the a ranger the second day that we learned
what it meant.? They were only allowing 315 vehicles? to drive to the
summit per day because last May, the lodge burned down, reasons not
determined yet, and therefore they do not have adequate bathroom
facilities available.? They have a few outhouses, but not enough to
handle the usual summer load of 4-5 thousand visitors a day.? So, they
do not want people wandering off into the trees to do their business
because they do not want to wait in lines for the outhouses.? Ah, people
who "love" the wilderness can be not so loving.

Views of the burned lodge.
