The Honeycrisp apple was not developed in Washington and it is not
optimized for the harsh summer sun and hot temperatures we get.? Growers
cover whole orchards with a netting that helps lower the temperature of
the tree by up to 20F in mid day.? Here are a few shots of a honeycrisp
orchard I drive by on the way to my summer teaching lab.
