My wife is playing in a golf tournament in a small town about 200 km south of Alicante, just south of the border between the autonomous regions of Murcia and Andaluc?a (the nearest bigger city is Almer?a). We are staying at a resort right on the coast, and while my wife plays golf I ride my bike, exploring the local roads. Yesterday I cycled south along a very nice coastal route. Five images follow. This part of Spain is a mix of tourism and agriculture?a high share of the vegetables consumed in Spain and in Europe is grown in this region. The landscape became flat and the cycling was easy, but the beatiful coastal views were gradually replaced by urban sprawl. This is in the town Playa de Vera. I should not knock it, I am a tourist here myself, and the sea and sunshine provides people with a living.
