The weather was not good, but I wanted to see an art exhibition at Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. It opened at 10, and I got there a bit early, so I want for a walk in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood in this case includes the Parliament and various other government buildings. Behind the Parliament building are the royal stables. The horses need their exercise, even though the Queen has not been riding in her carriage around Copenhagen for the past couple of years for reasons we all know. But now things are returning to normal, so the horses have to get ready: https://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/i-5wgxWG7/A While walking back to the museum, I passed Dantes Plads (Dante Square) and saw an amazing sculpture that was not there when I last visited this spot last year. Turns out that it is the work of Jens Galschi?t, a Danish sculptor who was in the news late last year, when his sculpture in Hong Kong, commemorating the Tiananmen Square massacre in 1989, was destroyed by the Chinese regime. Here, the sculpture was installed last year, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Dante?s death. But it is more than that. It is also part of a protest against plans to build an underground car park here.
