Today?s ride was of the ?short and sharp? variety: only 43 km but with significant climbing, including one particularly gruelling climb from Busot to the Cuevas (caves) de Canelobre. You go from an altitude of about 340-350 m to 580 m in 2.5 km, with some portions as steep as 13%. There is no stopping; if you stop, it will be virtually impossible to restart uphill. I only do this route if I have good legs, and today I did. The municipality has put up some helpful signs along the climb. They can be interpreted as a threat or promise, according to one?s attitude: https://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/i-JpXn7NV/A Once at the caves, I took a few minutes to enjoy the view of the Alicante coastal plain, including the road on which I have just been huffing and puffing: https://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/i-ZkCzqw2/A Overall, 2020 has been a miserable year for obvious reasons. But my cycling has benefitted from the flexibility offered by working from home for several months, and I have covered more km and climbed more meters than in either 2018 or 2019. Tomorrow I hope to finish the year with a good hard ride tomorrow.
