It lived with us in Zurich, moved with us to the Netherlands in 2003 and again to Spain in 2007. During all the moves, I did not entrust it to the moving company; instead, I drove it to its new home myself, including a 2-day, 2100 km drive from the Netherlands to Spain. After we settled in Spain, the cactus started flowering a couple of times a year. Clearly, it likes the sub-tropical climate of Alicante. Last year, we bought a house (we had been renting until now) a few km north, close to the beach. The cactus of course moved with us, but it did not seem to thrive that well, perhaps because there was enough sunlight in the spot where I had placed it. A few weeks ago my wife moved it to a spot that gets more sustained sunshine, an voila?this week it rewarded us. Not only that, but the flowers open on Sunday, which was Mothers Day here in Spain?how fitting! As an added bonus for the Leica list, both photos are 100% Leica, M8 with 90mm Tele Elmarit: This was taken on 4th May, actually: https://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/i-5FFFnLL/A And the opening on 5th May: https://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/i-fJsr72J/A Cheers, Nathan Nathan Wajsman Alicante, Spain http://www.frozenlight.eu <http://www.frozenlight.eu/> http:// <http://www.greatpix.eu/>www.greatpix.eu PICTURE OF THE WEEK: http://www.fotocycle.dk/paws <http://www.fotocycle.dk/paws>Blog: http://nathansmusings.wordpress.com/ <http://nathansmusings.wordpress.com/> Cycling: http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/belgiangator <http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/belgiangator> YNWA
