HCB did both - geometry (probably first, due to his early training, and 
later passion for painting), and people.

BTW : The decisive moment is just a later translation, or rather 
adaptation-reconstruction of the original title of the book. 
The French title told another story, and it was certainly not explicit about 
either decisive, nor moment? which leaves more room for those two essential 
facets, framing and behavior.
