To those that believe the mirrorless is lighter..... with the caveat that the sensor is the same size.... 24x36mm Yes, usually the body is less weight than a DSLR, especially the full pro models...... ( Sony A7riii vs Nikon 850 / D5 specs: 657g vs 950/1450g) ( note the Leica M10 is 660g, and the M3 is 610g) The difference of 300g is about 10 ounces..... 800g is about 1 1/2 pounds.... But a 300mm F4 lens weighs the same..... ditto any other lens you wish to think about. The more modern lenses are a bit less heavy, but it is not because they are for a mirrorless camera....the build technology is different.... If you put 3 lenses in your bag for the day, ( say a WA zoom like 16-35, a mid range zoom like a 24-70, and finally a long-ish zoom like a 70-200) the difference in total weight saved may be 8 ounces to a pound. In a 8-10 pound total weight bag. You won't really notice the difference..... Going from F2.8 lenses to F4 lenses will save you 8-16 ounces PER LENS. Now you save some weight, regardless of the technology of the body... mirrorless or DSLR. That could add up to 1/3 less total weight..... Trying to use your existing M lenses on mirrorless cameras will get you great IQ, but not reduce weight. It will reduce bulk. The "cost" is what I call "user experience". If you want the minimum weight, lenses and body, switch to a APS-C sensor camera. Everything gets lighter.... a lot lighter..... Food for thought..... focus on features you want/need.
