Late last week one of the older oaks on a neighboring street fell victim to age and rain rotted roots. It fell over a relatively main road taking out the power lines and blocking traffic; fortunately there were no cars or pedestrians under it. First, the power company has to cut power to the live lines. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/Lake+Forrest+power+outage+VIII.jpg.html After the power is cut, the scene must be surveyed and restorative action planned: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/Lake+Forrest+power+outage+VI.jpg.html Now the real work takes place as a tree removal service removes the tree; http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/Lake+Forrest+power+outage+rolling+logs.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/Lake+Forrest+team+effort.jpg.html All told power was back on in about five hours although the street was partially blocked by tree remains for several days thereafter. It is a shame that expediency prevented the use of the wood from this 75ish old tree for creative or constructive uses. All the best. -- Don don.dory at gmail.com
