I had lunch with a pilot friend out at the primary private airport in Atlanta. Behold, below our balcony sat an interesting plane. Talking to some mechanics it appears a pair of racing planes were in for repair; the turboprop you see needed a new tire on the nose. It had a near twin, an eight cylinder recipe, in for a nose wheel actuator. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/Orange+plane+porn.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/Orange+pland+porn+II.jpg.html The engine is a PT6A turboprop of 1100 horsepower and the mechanics indicated a top speed somewhere around 468 knots. I can't verify that but while we had lunch there was a continuous stream of folks looking at the plane. All the best. -- Don don.dory at gmail.com
