[Leica] Factory Engraved Names Plaques on Leica Cameras and Accessories

I have picked up a couple interesting things recently, One a IIIf body with 
a name factory engraved on the back obviously by Leica or Leitz NY fonts and 
size match

Also a brown shoulder system case (III series rectangular leather) with a 
silver plated brass name plate on it noting it belonged to Major xxx   DC

I think these are ties in time, sadly googling the first name had no results 
and the second surname is quite common

Has anyone (Jim Lager) studied these sort of things
