See here: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/PeterDzwig/Atlantic+Wall/DSCF1112.jpg.html> It's built on the side of a hill with two walls one behind the other as some of the Normandy defences were. This is the downhill side of the lower wall, which is the most massive, although it doesn't look it in this perspective because there is growth and more recent earth around it. <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/PeterDzwig/Atlantic+Wall/DSCF1112.jpg.html> This is the wall further along in cross-section. To get a sense of scale. The step is a firing step to fire **down** on approaching soldiers, so is about 5 ft high, enabling you to lean over and take a shot. <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/PeterDzwig/Atlantic+Wall/DSCF1118.jpg.html> This is the wall viewed from up the hill, between the two walls (the second isn't in this sequence). The hole in the middle is where the steel gates were before they were attacked with whatever devices they were testing at the time. <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/PeterDzwig/Atlantic+Wall/DSCF1109.jpg.html> These are some of the "dragon's teeth" anti-tank defences. They were originally taller but have accrued a lot of earth around them. C&Cs are welcome as ever. I know they are washed out :-). Peter PS I am having ISP issues and hope that this makes it in one piece -- =========================================================== Dr Peter Dzwig
