I sent a total of 10 shots to the family, out of 55 exposures. Not bad for a bunch of moving targets. I agree with you on preserving the past. Not having anywhere near your quantity of images, several years ago I digitized all of my keepers and sent CD copies to the kids. Just last weekend, my oldest son read about a proposed project to reactivate a steam locomotive that has been sitting in Nashville's Centennial Park for 60 years, where my kids climbed all over it. I searched my files and came up with two photos for them. I see my function these days as the informal photographer at these gatherings. I use Tina's approach, blend in with a small camera and shoot when I get a clear shot. No formal stuff. The younger folks fire away with their Canons and phones, but they seem to like the ones I provide. Incidentally, one of Lauren's gifts was a small, water-proof Nikon digital camera. So, maybe another generation of photographers is on the way.
