It IS fair to say that a regular, high quality, GG is much easier to focus
than the EVF in the A7 series.........
But there ain't none out there.....

My "technique"....
I focus wide open. ( if you insist on stopping down and focusing at working
aperture, the focus accuracy is pretty dismal... DOF is a real issue with
even 50mm lenses at F11...).
I always use the magnified view option... at 11.7x the regular
magnification, it really helps.
I do not use the focus assist Purely "ground glass" focusing.

I hate it, but when your M( dies, and you are on a trip, and the only
alternative is to use an EVF and your M lenses, it works....

.... and like I said, there really is not alternative for a really good GG
camera... Although the VF/RF in the M is pretty easy to use
comparatively,,,,,

The incredible accuracy of the EVF is amazing.. you are focusing from the
output of the actual sensor... NOTHING is better for accuracy...

Something, I forgot to mention? I have a difficult time with manual focus.
The electronic viewfinder of the A7 somehow confuses me? it?s easier on the
A7RII, but I?m not really satisfied. My R8/R9 cameras are more accurate. I?m
guessing the SL is too?

FWIW,

All the best from Paris!
