There are lots of possible focus points visible in the SL's finder, and there's a tiny joystick nubbin you can control with your right thumb to choose which is primary; so once you know what your composition will be, you can choose a focus point compatible with it and keep shooting that way until you're ready to move on. That focus point stays where you set it until you change it again, which is good. You can also move the place to magnify off-center, to help with doing the same sort of thing with manual-focus lenses, but I couldn't figure out a way to get it to stay moved - it always seemed to return to the center of the frame after I'd returned to full-frame view. Tina, you've had time to get to know this camera properly - is there a way to get the magnified area to stay moved?
