Subject: [Leica] Type 240, 246, 262? Who made these up?

Porsche 911, Messerschmidt 109, etc.

Rollei 3003 (there were not over 3000 before it:-) )

All Zeiss cameras had model numbers number, too, e.g 
850/12, the Contessa 533/24, Contax IIa 563/24 or the 
530, 531, 532 folders.

Quite common in the naming of aircraft as well - Boeing 
707, BAC 111, Airbus 380
