The new 30% sex quota passed in a 2012 act of the Dail is the driver to break up the wall of suited male candidates that normally try to titivate the Irish public. With a general election in the offing on the 26th of this month, the smiling posters have gone up everywhere, and even the politicians are mingling with the ordinary public by appearing at bus stops.
