I've skied through Smuggler's Notch in the winter and have driven through it in the summer but have never seen it dressed in all its glorious foliage. Incidentally the name Smuggler's Notch comes from the fact that Vermont farmers used it to smuggle beef up to Canada during the 1812 war. The Federals thought that no one in his right mind would take that journey just to make a few bucks.
