There is a pueblo there that still has some full time occupants. They don?t want you taking their photo, so I respected that. The new church http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f15/t/Taos+Pueblo-5923.jpg.html The old church and cemetery http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f15/t/Taos+Pueblo-5934.jpg.html Some of he buildings. Some are shops, some are residences, most are not really used, but are maintained. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f15/t/Taos+Pueblo-5908-2.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f15/t/Taos+Pueblo-5909.jpg.html At the other end of Taos is the famed San Francisco de Asis Mission Church. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f15/t/Taos+Church-5952-2.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f15/t/Taos+Church-5951-2.jpg.html No photos are allowed inside. And Taos is filled with colorful doors and windows, like much of New Mexico http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f15/t/Taos-5881-2.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f15/t/Taos-5944.jpg.html Before Taos we were in Canyon De Chelly. We took a guided tour of the canyon and along the way our guide had mentioned the exploits of Kit Carson. He was one of many childhood heros of mine, and many a young boy growing up in the 50?s and 60?s. Our guide was not impressed with Mr. Carson and old a few tales of his own. My opinion changed. It just so happened that Kit Carson is buried in Taos. I visited his grave: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f15/t/Taos-5940.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f15/t/Taos-5939.jpg.html And deposited a bit of spittle on it for the Indians of Canyon De Chelly. Heard a few tales at the Pueblo the next day, too. Comments welcome. Aram We took a walking tour and got some of the history.
