I acknowledge that these are personal and subjective responses to any image of a firearm and the back story that Leo provided. I hoped to make the point that the image can be appreciated/critiqued on its own without that being any endorsement the topic itself. I certainly respect everyone's views and am deliberately not expressing any personal view on the topic or your comments there for the same reason. For example I can appreciate/critique if asked, a journalist's image of a politician whatever views/positions they (or any viewer) might have. When I share my own work at least I would like the same approach from anyone that wishes to comment. As a final remark, Douglas I thought that "ps She's not from the Smith side of the family perchance? :-)" was the best comment that I've read for ages. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: George Lottermoser <george.imagist at icloud.com> To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> Cc: Date: Sun, 01 Nov 2015 08:25:09 -0600 Subject: Re: [Leica] Friday Firearms I quite agree. The image, without words, stopped me and held my attention; as my mind worked to understand what I was seeing. Upon reading a "caption/backstory." Then I simply felt dumbstruck by the idea of "auctioning tools of death for medical benefit" I fully recognize that all these thoughts qualify as totally subjective responses; based on very personal experiences. a note off the iPad, George >> On Fri, Oct 30, 2015 at 1:09 PM, Douglas Barry <imra at iol.ie> wrote: >> >> Well Leo, even though I'm not a fan of firearms, the US's bizarre gun >> culture, and am disturbed that so many innocents live with the likelihood >> that some loon with a grudge will open up at random while they are shopping >> or at school, I have to say that is a bang-on image, and really grabbed me. >> >> It has tremendous impact and the conflict - to me in Ireland - of seeing a >> gun being aimed in what appears to be a suburban home by one of the >> "gentler" sex while ordinary life goes on in the background, and, of >> course, the eye of the half faced man just makes this one of the best >> images on the LUG that I have seen. >> >> That back story of medical fundraising makes it even better! >> >> Douglas >> >> >> ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leo Wesson" <leowesson at gmail.com> >> To: "Leica Users Group" <lug at leica-users.org> >> Sent: Friday, October 30, 2015 1:46 PM >> Subject: Re: [Leica] Friday Firearms >> >> >> >> Well Douglas, >>> >>> It's photographed at a fundraiser for a children's medical support agency >>> where they auction off guns and hunting trips to raise money. >>> >>> It's a Texas thing. >>> >>> Leo Wesson >>> leowesson.com >>> >>>> On Oct 30, 2015, at 07:05, Douglas Barry <imra at iol.ie> wrote: >>>> >>>> That is one great and enigmatic shot, Leo.
