The "attachments" for the LS5000 are the same as those for the LS4000. The 5000 is USB based. The 4000 is Firewire 4000 based. There are lots more technical differences, but this is the main reason you want to continue with the same model you have. NO messing around with new interface cards/protocols, glitches, etc. Remember, this is a business decision. The faster you get the scans done, the faster you get $$$ rolling in. Filmstrip holder also on Ebay... $150. Might want to try one of those first..... Frank Filippone Red735i at verizon.net Thanks, Frank. That is probably the most common-sense way to go. I'm going to continue to try to work on my Nikon scanner or get someone else to fix it. Unfortunately, Nikon no longer supports the scanner and does not have parts. I've been making do with the flimsy aluminum guides in the bulk loader but have been able to bend them enough to work until the scanner started acting up. Now it won't scan at all. Time to take it apart, I think, and buy a new one if it is unfix-able.
