The city fathers, in their wisdom, have spent a couple of years revamping this street. They imbedded glass chips in the sidewalks to give a festive effect, and until some of it was redone, had some dangerous bits of sharpness protruding. They loused up parking in the area for two years. And, curses, they replaced a lovely spouting fountain, possibly because it was a lure to pranksters who liked to pour blue dye into it. The replacement is hyped as a unique sculpture, in that it ?works? whether or not water is flowing.
