I think that Erwin's processing has been questioned by a few MM2 owners, not 
what they are seeing in relation to the original MM

Yes. One of the reasons I bought this Monochrom rather than waiting for the 
new one (other than price) is that the noise at high ISO's in the new one is 
less random and more patterned than the noise in this CCD based Monochrom. 
At least from what I see in Erwin Puts' tests.
