I live at sea level, so to get to 1024 meters means serious climbing. This is the first time I have attempted this pass. I left at 9 a.m. to avoid the afternoon heat while climbing?the temperature did his 36C during the ride, but that was on the downhill portion, so OK. It ended up as a 105 km ride with 1650 meters of climbing, but I feel very good about the Guinness I am enjoying right now. And I have some pictures :-) This is about 30 km into the ride?the mountains in the distance is where I am going: 'http://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/4253606_kdsZ6C#!i=4097044431&k=XzjnRzh&lb=1&s=O I made it! http://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/4253606_kdsZ6C#!i=4097044666&k=33bQhkz&lb=1&s=O And the world is at my feet, seemingly?and I have a 30 km descent to look forward to: http://www.greatpix.eu/All/Picture-A-Day/4253606_kdsZ6C#!i=4097044889&k=djVWwfC&lb=1&s=O Not bad for a 54-year old MAMIL.
