It was misty and not very good conditions for lens testing but I was lucky in one sense because while I was photographing the jet foils that rush the gamblers to and from Hong Kong to Macao out of the mist came the apparation of an old sailing ship. It was the HMS Bounty - which I had first photographed in Sydney Australia in the mid 90?s with my Rolliewide and then again in 2008 when Hong Kong became its home port after a local real estate company bought the vessel. Th is is the second HMS Bounty built in New Zealand in 1978. The first replica was building in Lunenburg Nova Scotia in 1960 and used in the Marlon Brando movie of Mutiny on the Bounty. It sank in a storm in 2012. <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Howard+Cummer/HK2015/BountyMist.jpg.html> Here is a closer view of the Bounty replica: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Howard+Cummer/HK2015/BountyCU.jpg.html> And the old and the new: The Jetfoil Pico and the Bounty. The jetfoils skim their way between Hong Kong and Macao carrying gamblers and tourists back and forth. They are made by Boeing and they go very quickly. The jetfoils are 30 tonne vessels and can travel up to 47 knots - 80 km per hour. I am always fascinated by them and have been photographing them for years. <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Howard+Cummer/HK2015/PicoBounty.jpg.html> The Funchal on its way from Macao to Hongkong: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Howard+Cummer/HK2015/Funchal4223.jpg.html> The Urzela on its way from Hong Kong to Macao: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Howard+Cummer/HK2015/Urzela.jpg.html> Hong Kong does not have its own navy but it has a very well equipped and well trained marine police force; Here is the smuggler chaser on a circuit of the Western shipping lanes: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Howard+Cummer/HK2015/MarinePolice4182.jpg.html> Please look large. C&C always welcome: Howard
