Right. It would be an M bayonet with additional contacts for AF, lens data, 
etc. They would also carry coding for the M cameras so they could apply lens 
corrections. Obviously, it would not be possible to enable AF on the 
existing products like M240. There would be no change in the battery life of 
M240 with an M-AF lens mounted.

The new M-AF lenses would project an image circle suitable for APS-H. On new 
M-AF bodies, they would autofocus. On M bodies, they would not, but they 
would have aperture and focus rings on the barrel so they would be fully 
usable in manual mode. Leica could really differentiate by producing a line 
of M-AF lenses that also have nicely damped and good-feeling manual focus 
mechanisms.
