I feel the same looking at some LuLa stuff, I still mostly regard digital 
photography as slide film ;-)

I finally decided not to lease Adobe's software. I'm not a pro and cannot 
justify the cost. I can use prior PS versions to do the basics, and NIK or 
other plugins/standalones to do the rest. Actually, I can be Adbobeless by 
using Aperture. At some point, software evolves into too much manipulation. 
When I look at some PS technique articles in magazines, I'm reminded of the 
late artist who painted cozy lighthouses and cottages. Postcard pretty, but 
not my preference.
