An idol was being taken around the temple and temple pond perimeter in a palanquin carried by devotees of Vishnu, one of the major Hindu gods - the vertical trident mark on men's foreheads denotes worship of Vishnu. The palanquin was preceded by a chanting and marching flock of scholars and temple elders, and followed by another group of a vedic teacher and his wards, also chanting vedic verses. The first set concentrates on the palanquin and the load bearers: Load Bearers: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Triplicane/ParthaFest-20130623-013.jpg.html Offerings: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Triplicane/ParthaFest-20130623-042.jpg.html A Moment's Rest: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Triplicane/ParthaFestN-20130623-164.jpg.html Pain: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Triplicane/ParthaFestN-20130623-260.jpg.html Keep Going!: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Triplicane/ParthaFestN-20130623-344.jpg.html Halfway House: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Triplicane/ParthaFestN-20130623-365.jpg.html Rest Stop: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Triplicane/ParthaFestN-20130623-367.jpg.html Home Stretch: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Triplicane/ParthaFestN-20130623-648.jpg.html Please see LARGE.
