It's mostly religion. Ars' commentators are full of Linux geeks who dislike 
anything which is not open source and cannot be turned into a Borg cube by 
replacing the guts. Ten years ago, it was Microsoft which was The Evil One. 
Now it's Apple's turn.

All computers are built with design tradeoffs. Geeks don't always 
acknowledge this small details.

Select the tradeoffs which are most important for you and live with the 
rest. :)
