That is fine tuning, any i7, SSD and decent graphics card will work better 
than you have now. You either read up/pay the money for skills/experience or 
just accept that it is good enough for what you need.

What spec is your laptop? Anything of the spec below will run rings around 
it.....

See!! That's what I mean.  It is totally too complicated for someone who is
not a computer guru and only wants to process old photos from old cameras!
