500 cubic feet per second is a lot of water and I wouldn't want to try 
swimming across that! Swimming can be dangerous and as a former year round 
sea swimmer, I can vouch for that. My most recent fright was a new rip tide 
last October and I thought I knew the place, but the bathyscape had been 
altered.
