This is using the Fujinon zoom which I bought as a "standard" lens (welo with plenty of low-light Leica glass... It's a pond in the woods behind our house on a bright sunny day. Lots of detail in foreground and background trees, twigs etc. the original colour version is here (camera RAW to .tiff) at 50%: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/PeterDzwig/PESO2011/DSCF4764colrednew.tif.html <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/PeterDzwig/PESO2011/DSCF4764colrednew.tif.html> The monochrome version is here (colour removed but NOT pure greyscale, ie there are three channels)slightly larger but not much (0.7 stop underexposed to get density) <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/PeterDzwig/PESO2011/DSCF4764V2.tif.html> http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/PeterDzwig/PESO2011/DSCF4764V2.tif.html Conversion to .Tiff was done using latest version of SilkyPix camera RAW converter supplied by Fuji (current version). C&C welcomed. Anyone LUGger wanting to look at print quality is welcome to download and print it, as ever subject to usual LUG terms INITIAL COMMENTS: Overall I am pretty pleased with it. Rendition and resolution seem OK, perhaps not that good in these varying light conditions. The screen is deceptive, SilkyPix converts a somewhat brighter image than the screen shows. Interface is more than a bit fiddly. I must remember to check the battery more frequently. M3s don't need that! Two trips have been abortive because... SilkyPix seems to do a reasonable job, but LR would be a whole deal better I suspect with good RAW conversion. I like their concept of "developing" RAW images. Would I rather have a Leica? Well, I have the glass and an M-mount adapter. So I guess it comes down to the sensor. That in turn depends upon the s/w chain including conversion. Ask me later... Which will last longer? My IIIf has a 60-year lead on it, my M3 a 50-year lead, so as long as I can get film and get it developed. Will a digital Leica be usable in fifty years? Will put the adapter on some Leica Glass and show what I get! Regards, Peter -- =========================================================== Dr Peter Dzwig
