Thanks for bearing with me on this almost unceasing flow of photographs! Jainism is thought to have had its roots in the Indus Valley Civilization, but is practiced today as formulated by the saint Mahavira around the 6th century, has to be the most non violent religion ever devised by man. All life is sacred, including bacteria, and holy men will walk only barefoot, and breathe through masks made of muslin, to minimize damage to other forms of life. Three shots of kids on their way to the temple: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Parry_s_20121230_127.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Parry_s_20121230_156.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Parry_s_20121230_137.jpg.html The last one is of two devotees in the temple itself. Jain temples are generally constructed from white marble: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Parry_s_20121230_135.jpg.html Please see LARGE. Comments and criticism, as ever, welcome.
