Then they suggested going down to the Baylands to photograph birds. Since I was recovering from a condition leading to shortness of breath, I didn't want to lug my camera bag, so I just put the 90mm in the M9. No photogenic birds showed up, and here I was with an inappropriate lens. To make matters worse, being so used to the 35mm lens, I tend to forget about the 90mm's limited depth of field, so a number of shots just got discarded. I mean, when the tail feathers of a goose are needle sharp and the beak is blurred--that's depressing. Anyway, here's what I rescued.
