Starting last year, after the death of his wife, he hosted a music potluck. They were both into bluegrass music, and use to travel the country to hear it. He invited some musician friends and then invited the whole neighborhood to a night of music and food. This year the weather was nippy, so not as many of the old folks in the neighborhood came, but those who did bundled up, dragged their chairs and brought food to the event. Duke even provides golf cart transportation to some of the neighbors who have a hard time walking. My father-in-law and I are the "official" photographers, so here is a selection of my attempts. Nothing outstanding, but fun. The venue is simple, yet effective: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f12/d_001/Duke+Party-5505.jpg.html The musicians are willing and able. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f12/d_001/Duke+Party-5516.jpg.html Duke even picks up the base once in a while. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f12/d_001/Duke+Party-5523.jpg.html The whole neighborhood is invited, even if you have 4 legs. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f12/d_001/Duke+Party-5527.jpg.html Hey, they don't look 55 or older. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f12/d_001/Duke+Party-5477-Edit.jpg.html Into the evening http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f12/d_001/Duke+Party-5538.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f12/d_001/Duke+Party-5546.jpg.html http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f12/d_001/Duke+Party-5555.jpg.html Walking home, chairs and empty dishes in hand. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Aram/f12/d_001/Duke+Party-5557.jpg.html Hope you enjoyed the concert.
