In the evening before Remembrance Day each soldier's grave in the Pender Island cemetery is illuminated by a candle and while a Piper plays people come to pay their respects to the fallen. Last night was cold (0 degrees C) and the Piper had to stop from time to time to warm his hands and the Pipes. Despite the cold people came and walked silently among the candle lit crosses under a clear brilliantly starry sky. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Howard+Cummer/Remembrance/ http://tinyurl.com/acs7ahp A moment for reflection and to remember. I always think of my brother Franklin who was lost, at the age of 22, over Stuttgart, piloting the lead Lancaster of Canadian squadron 405 of Vancouver, in January of 1945. Thanks Frank. Howard (cold on Pender this Remembrance Day morning)
