Apropos that travel, I wanted to find a camera bag for the Leica M6/M8/M9 or other camera. I usually find a Domke to be perfect for most of my needs. But hardly rainproof. One body with lens, 2-3 lenses (50 F1.4, Tri Elmar, 75 Summarit, and WATE), space for a digital film wallet, place for batteries and other accessories. It must be waterproof. Or at least, be rigged to be waterproof. Enter the Lowepro Stealth Reporter D300. Wonderful bag. Holds 3 or 4 lenses, 1 body with lens, a second body, if required, and lots of stuff. Has a top carrying strap as well as a shoulder strap. Fairly large for the Leica, it held a bunch of other stuff, including on one occasion, a couple of sandwiches. Waterproof with its raincoat enabled. Used it on our car trip through the Dalmatian coast and Hawaii with 100% success. And yes, the raincoat was really needed a few times. Then I decided, for our next trip, which will require quite a bit of travel by train, not rental car, to carry the bag in a backpack. That allows both arms to be free to help SWMBO with her luggage, and not have the bag swing from an arm.. Found a perfect backpack ( 1 large compartment, one smaller compartment plus all the little cubbies backpacks are known for. The D300 fit, almost. It was a bit too big. Backpacks only come in a few widths, and this was one of the widest. Went looking for a slightly smaller bag, same other specs. Found the Lowepro Stealth Reporter D100. Hold one body with lens, 2 more lenses, and some stuff. Same waterproofness. Fits perfectly in the backpack. 3-4 lenses may fit for travel, but the dividers make it really tight for use. Will not hold 2 sandwiches, it is a good fit for the 2 lens Leica outfit. I heartily recommend these bags.. Light, fairly well padded, lots of cubbies, secret compartment ( Get Smart style.. ), and has that raincoat. Ordered our next overseas tickets.. Frank Filippone Red735i at verizon.net
