The main thing that has bothered me with Leica's histograms is that
where they say is clipping just isn't where it happens.  This is the
result of using the .jpg data to generate the clipping diagram.

What's even more important to me than clipping or dynamic range is how
an image file fades to pure white.  All my B&W negatives had areas
that printed as paper white, it's just that the tones faded very
gradually, with a delicate rendition, to white.  The thing that
bothered me with digital  at first wasn't the actual clipping as much
as the way that clipped areas plunged really quickly from a tone a way
above white to pure white, leaving a hard edged effect.  The latest
generation digital cameras are handling this vastly better.  The
Olympus OM-D is amazing in this respect.
