My case is when we take our tandem to Europe and pedal from village to village on our own (as in no support vehicle). On a tandem (bike), space and weight limitations are quite strict. I thought about taking my 15" MacBook Pro along for about 60s and gave up on that idea as it weighs about 7lbs (3.5Kg) once all the extra bits such as power supply and a protective case gets added. My wife would have shot that idea down (and me with it) in about 5s since she has to help me pedal this extra 7lbs up the hills (Provence ain't flat). A MacBook Air would be nice but hard to justify just for these once a year trips. :( I guess I will have to live with editing 2K pictures when we get back though I would rather do the filtering along the way. By the way, an 64GB iPad makes a great backup device. No moving parts means it can handle vibrations much better than any of those portable hard disk-based backup devices AND you have a decent 10" screen to evaluate all your photo mistakes. ;) Regards, Spencer On Jul 21, 2012, at 9:26, J.
