I am interested in what Leica do for the new M10, but not very!
The existing rangefinder, the knowledge of tolerance sensitivity and how to
calibrate it is well known by Leica. It is basically a variation on the M2
rangefinder which they have made for decades. All the design work and
tooling was amortized years ago.
A new optical viewfinder on the type being speculated upon, using the type
of framelines used on the titanium limited edition may well be a feasible
development, though getting the chosen frame to change size may not be
feasible since the actual change in size is lens dependant as well as
distance dependant.
Making a variable magnification finder which retains sufficient accuracy for
the rangefinder to work adequately sounds -very- expensive to me...
It is actually very unlikely that the M10 will have any feature which will
make it a must buy for me personally, though I wait for Leica to surprise me!
