Copy orig as tiff, flip copy either V or H then merge w/orig and now have a working tiff. At this point I usually have an idea as to how/why I want to proceed, but not always. The rest is distortion filters in P/S and usually no layers. The interesting challenge (for me at least) is to master the P/S distortion filters in order to gain more control over what you produce.
