Sunday was also the day of the new moon, called Amavasya, where Hindus do a short ceremony for the well being of the souls of the forefathers. Around the Kapaleshwara Temple Tank, this was going on in full swing, with a line of priests ready for the pooja (religious ceremony), and people dropping in, finishing it in 20 minutes or so, and making way for the next person - it was really an assembly line - the first three shots are from there: Assembly line: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Mylapore_20120520_042.jpg.html Priest: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Mylapore_20120520_073.jpg.html Pooja: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Mylapore_20120520_079.jpg.html Portrait with the Nikkor 80-200 wide open: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Mylapore_20120520_109.jpg.html Hawker doing a short pooja before opening her stall for the day - it is camphor burning on the wheel: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/album254/Mylapore_20120520_130.jpg.html Please see LARGE Comments and criticism, as ever, welcome Cheers Jayanand
