Don't you get it Phil? It's your fault. If only you tried harder. Times have changed, and some people just don't get it. They were able to do something 30 years ago, so we should be able to as well. For example, right on Ohio State University's info page about costs, it says, "Students should plan for a 5 to 10% annual increase for all costs." I'm sure the pay that an 18 yr old gets keeps up with that. Right. Heck, I'm sure the pay an average middle class worker doesn't keep pace with that increase. As it stands now, a student couldn't work full time, 40 hrs/week, at min wage and have enough to attend the school. Never mind that they probably wouldn't be able to attend classes. So the solution for many is to go in debt, go part time, or don't go. Currently, student loans in the US total to over $1 trillion dollars. This is just one example. There are plenty of others. So the message is, 'You aren't trying hard enough Phil!' Never mind that you are competing with out of work lawyers, out of work Ph.D.'s, out of work 50 yr olds with a lifetime of experience, etc. "Just keep looking. I looked 10 yrs before I found a steady job. You just need to keep looking!" You'll have to eat shoe leather of course, for 10 years, because 'not having a steady job' is a lot different from 'not having A job'. Stop expecting things to be handed to you! Fuck that. I don't expect things to be handed to me, and I know Phil doesn't either. Phil's willing to bust his ass to provide for himself. No one will let him.
