Subject: [Leica] M8 behavior

We are on a trip  the M8 has been fine. 
Suddenly the camera locked up with the rear screen 
Stating to reset the folder number
What folder   Number?  How?  Why?
I downloaded a copy of the manual and searched there. 
Not actually too helpful as those directions did not work
Finally I tried changing the numbering options and got it running again. 

Apparently this happens when you turn 10,000 exposures?

More importantly , how can I reset the counter to
000-0001?  I have no computer to do this.
