[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]Today I visited the Yolo Bypass wildlife area between Sacramento and Davis CA and an hour of blending into the background scenery was rewarded with photos of the Least Sandpiper, a tiny (5 to 6 inches) hyperactive shorebird who probes the mud for yummy invertebrates. http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/scolopacidae/lesand04.html http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/scolopacidae/lesand05.html The Least Sandpiper often winters here but in a few days it will fly north to the Alaskan and Canadian arctic to breed. technical stuff: R8/DMR, 560mm f/6.8 Novoflex Telyt, shoulder stock & monopod.
