I just went through the exercise of probing the archives for my first

onto the scene 'til 1997 (in Volume 1):

[By then ihnp4 had been powered down for over eight years - we were
all awash in ats instead of bangs]
The thread was something about B&W film emulsions and expected grain

processing problem.
That this kind of archive search, right back to the LUG epoch, is
possible - and of course that all the conversations so archived could
take place at all - all this is thanks to our gracious Saloonkeeper.
Long may he wave.
